LEED Construction

In 2011, we completed over a half-billion dollars in LEED-Certified structures, making Layton one of the nation's largest contractors devoted to sustainability.

We have a solid history of environmentally-conscious practices.

detailLayton was one of the first firms to build a LEED-Certified structure in the western United States. In 2001, we completed the Utah Olympic Ice Oval for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. Until recently, this structure was the largest LEED-Certified structure on the planet.

We are committed to hiring and training LEED Accredited Professionals(TM).

Layton has a structured program for educating and preparing our professionals for the LEED Professional Exam (TM). Since 2002, over 50 of our professionals have obtained LEED accreditation. Our LEED APs have demonstrated that they have the knowledge and skills needed to successfully implement and manage green building standards.

What is LEED?

The LEED® green building certification program is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of green buildings. It evaluates environmental performance of all buildings over their life span, providing a definitive standard for what constitutes a green building. Credits are earned for satisfying each criterion, and different levels of certification are awarded based upon the total credits accumulated. LEED was instituted by the U.S. Green Building Council® membership, representing all segments of the building industry.

This new generation of building delivers high performance inside and out. Benefits to owners who want to build green include:
