Methodist Stone Oak Hospital
San Antonio, TX
HCA Methodist Stone Oak Hospital Expansion comprises a three-story, 100,000 SF vertical expansion that solves a critical shortage of hospital beds and specialized services in North Central San Antonio.
The expansion included more than 70 additional beds, 36 surgical step-down beds, and a 15-bed acute rehabilitation facility for patients needing physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.
The expansion also added 20 additional beds in its women’s services, six additional beds in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and a third C-section suite.
Owner HCA and Layton realize the benefits of prefabrication to schedule, quality control, reducing impacts to existing operations, a reduced waste stream on-site and reduced waste overall. At Stone Oak, prefabrication extended to toilet rooms, patient headwalls, sink alcoves, and mechanical racks in the corridors.
